Over the last 5 years, we’ve seen our community of members and activity providers grow. We started in Bath and Bristol and have since seen communities grow across many more cities in the UK. We’re proud to say that we now have over 4000 partners and 300,000 members across our network, and are delighted to report that more Move cities are cropping up across the UK through 2019.
Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of making Move what it is today. From giving feedback, to telling friends, to becoming shareholders, to putting up with the growing pains of a young company with a small team and a big mission.
Like any young company, we’re not perfect, so we’d like to say a huge thank you to both our members and activity providers alike who’ve been with us all the way, it means a lot that you’ve stuck by Move and believed in our mission to grow this active community together.
Community means working together, winning together and losing together. It means caring about each other and looking after each others’ needs, but most importantly a strong community is built on trust.
At Move, we believe the foundation of trust is transparency. So, we’ll always be up front with both our members and activity partners to ensure that the community we grow is a happy, healthy and active one!
We started Move with a mission to help people discover their passions and sustain an active lifestyle, for life. To allow this, we need to balance the needs of our members and fitness partners alike. We need to pay our partners a fair price for the service they provide and ask our members to pay a fair price to access these services. It’s true to say, a pricing model that is easy to understand and balances these needs, has its challenges!
As it stood our membership pricing worked for 90% of members, but for the more active 10% we still paid our partners the same per visit so we’ve been subsidising on our members behalf. We’ve learned that these subsidies cost a lot every year which unfortunately makes it unsustainable to continue covering these costs and thus for our partners.
We’re 100% committed to paying our partners the fairest rates for their classes, and believe that we've developed a pricing structure which is great value (based on the number of activities members attend) and easy to understand.
The problem that we’re left with is that we still have a number of customers on our older membership plans, which don’t allow us to fairly reward our partners and remain as transparent as possible, so we’re contacting members to help find the best solution.
We’re happy to make zero profit on our founding members, as we feel indebted to them for helping us grow to be the company we are today. We value them as role models to their friends, family and their community of how to have an amazing active lifestyle.
However, for a small minority of highly active members, we’ll be in touch to move them over to one of our new memberships. We’ll be looking at every member one by one to recommend the most suitable membership based on their usage and even giving great founding member discounts and additional visits for free to ensure that our loyal members get the best possible deal.
All founding members will be given a large discount on our new membership plans and custom upgrades for those that are more active, to say thanks for helping grow Move.
